Owner run
Antbear Lodge is one of those smaller owner run establishments with 15 accommodation units as either mountain view suites or garden view suites. Sustainability and responsible tourism are a huge part of the ethos of our lodge. And we try to do just about everything ourselves. It starts with our alternative structures and ends with the cheese on your breakfast table.
Hand carved furniture
Every single piece of furniture is made here at the lodge by ourselves. The furniture is artistic and inspiring. We have created huge mosaics, whimsical stain glass windows and even our own wooden hinges. And guests are welcome to see what we are doing in the wood shop. The woodwork alone makes this lodge a destination in its own right.
The restaurant
The lodge includes a restaurant, small bar and lounge. We cook all our meals from scratch and have our own organic vegetable garden. The meals we prepare have our South African twist to them and we cater for all dietary requirements with absolute pleasure. We have our own chickens for eggs, cows for milk and bake our own bread. And as I already mentioned we even make our own cheese. Yes Antbear Lodge is really a special place.
Private Dining
We also offer a private dining experience where we setup a table on the deck of your cave and you dine by candlelight under the stars. Its ideal for those honeymoons or for anyone wanting that special time with their partner.
